This is a letter from a involved expat who has been working, legally, in Thailand, for a quantity of years but says that now it’s getting nearby inconceivable for many law-abiding, tax-paying expats to obtain a model new visa. Re-printed with permission.
Hello,
I wished to talk a couple of major concern that’s happening in Thailand relating to people’s visas. I see that nobody is talking about this subject and it’s actually irritating.
Basically everybody who was living in Thailand for yearsssssss with correct work visas, paying tax every month and so on, lost their jobs due to Covid-19. Since then, they misplaced their work visas and applied for (so-called) Covid visa extensions as an alternative.
So now the country is opening up again, however very slowly, the government wish to kick out all the unique people who were working right here earlier than. Right now firms can’t give out many working visas as it’s not busy enough and never a lot cash going around.
They usually are not allowed to apply for any other visas due to their previous visa beforehand, they’re not allowed to increase the covid visas, apply for schooling visa, nothing.
People thought “Ok, I can go away the country and are available again the next month and try again”. Nope. They are actually refusing anyone who was in Thailand earlier than Covid because they were here for too long… Basically treating them like criminals despite the fact that they paid taxes for years and did every thing by the guide appropriately. If Covid hadn’t occurred, everybody would nonetheless get to remain as normal… so why do away with them?
My boyfriend has been a diving instructor for 10 years in Thailand, this is his residence. Forgotten doesn’t have a home anyplace else, and his country, Slovakia, is right next to the struggle zone. He can’t find any proper visa places to help, unless shopping for a enterprise visa which prices A LOT of money.
Why is the system so bad? Why are they desirous to kick out half of the expats here and refuse them entry if they attempt to come back, when all they (the Thai government) desperately need is tourism and cash.
I would actually respect should you talked about this on the show. They really want to provide you with a new Visa process for individuals who worked right here and misplaced their jobs.
BTW, I reside on Koh Tao, and basically the entire island shall be leaving soon due to this monstrosity.
I look ahead to your response..
