A large clump of LED billboards in Bangkok’s Thong Lor district has been such a nuisance to residents throughout the street, with many complaining they’re shedding sleep, that an official grievance filed with local police and the district workplace may reach its elimination.
Thong Lor is understood for its nightlife, with quite a few golf equipment, pubs, eating places – and shiny lights. But the 30 metre long, eight metre broad LED billboard, flashing ads for corporations together with Tyson rooster nuggets and Johnnie Walker whisky, has been too bright for residents to handle.
In defiance, residents have resorted to hanging banners with handwritten, anti-billboard messages exterior their home windows to protest the signal and block out its obnoxious mild. The block of four-story townhouses — house to a Japanese restaurant, a jewelry store and a massage parlor at street degree — appears like a building underneath siege, with white fabric banners bearing complaints in black and pink spray paint hung in defiance against the invasive billboard.

Other printed banners depict a household and a cute canine sporting surgical masks as blindfolds to guard their eyes from the blinding mild across the road.

What residents actually wish to know is whether their voice has been heard. In an obvious victory, it appears so. After inspection — and to no one’s surprise — it has been confirmed that it’s certainly illegal to install a giant billboard with no license.
Aqua Ad Public, the company behind the LED board, has had to make adjustments like reducing the panel’s brightness by 80% and turning it off 4 hours earlier. They will also be fined every single day until it’s been completely eliminated by February 7..
